What is the color matching technology for silk screen printing ink?

2025 11/28

Screen printing processing combines two or more colors, or uses a small amount of colors in addition to the main color, to form a combination of colors. When preparing the color ink before use, first expose the color to be prepared on the color sample separately, and correctly distinguish whether the original (or original) color is primary color, intermediate color, or duplicate color. If it is intermediate color or complex color, it is necessary to distinguish the ratio between the main color and the auxiliary color.

Secondly, it is necessary to adjust the sample according to the color tone indicated in the original manuscript. Only when the color difference is small or equal compared to the original manuscript, can it be adjusted in large quantities, and the time should be short and the adjustment amount should be appropriate. Insufficient adjustment leads to work stoppage, inconsistent ink color, and affects normal production; Excessive consumption can lead to unnecessary waste.

When coloring silk screen ink, three points should be noted:
1. When mixing ink, try to add as few different colors of ink as possible. The fewer types of ink, the better the mixing effect.
2. Adopting the principle of "from light to dark", whether preparing light or bright colored ink, caution should be taken when the hue is close to the sample. Ink produced by different manufacturers should not be mixed and used. It is recommended to use ink of different colors from the same manufacturer for color matching. Otherwise, uneven color tones may occur, and in severe cases, condensation may occur, resulting in ink scrap.
3. Some screen printing inks are dried by drying, with light colors being lighter after drying than undried ones, and dark colors being darker after drying.
In addition, it is easy to overlook whether there is a difference in the color tone of the ink before and after drying during printing. Generally speaking, through natural drying, the substrate is plastic, metal, paper, glass, etc., and the color will not change; But if the coloring material used for ceramics, due to its color development after burning and oxidation, can only be adjusted based on experience. For silk screen printing ink dried by thermosetting and photopolymerization, the color may vary in depth, as mentioned above. When the ink volume is large, an ink mixer can be used to complete color adjustment in a short period of time.

Attention: When preparing light colored silk screen ink (printing material), try to add as little white ink as possible, as white ink can easily cause discoloration of other colors.
